Anastasia is Chief Research Officer of Breez Cyprus and Honorary Associate Professor at Essex Law School. She is an expert on citizens’ participation in the European Union, having researched extensively the European Citizens’ Initiative. She has published on participatory democracy, the legal framework and litigation around forms of citizens’ participation, the transparency of EU institutions, as well as broader aspects of constitutional and institutional law. Anastasia has co-led the University of Essex team in the EU-funded project EU-CIEMBLY, which explores intersectional inclusion, equality, and deliberation in citizens’ assemblies. As part of the project, she organised and facilitated two pilot citizens’ assemblies in 2026 in the UK and in Cyprus.
