James Batchik is a deputy director at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center, where he leads the center’s programming and strategy on the European Union and US-EU relations. He also facilitates the center’s transatlantic digital and tech portfolio and oversees the center’s work on the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy.
He has been quoted in and his writing has appeared in publications including Foreign Policy, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, AP, Just Security, Forbes Ukraine, and The Kyiv Independent. He is a frequent commentator on outlets including Al Jazeera, TVP World, and more.
Batchik received a MSc with distinction from the London School of Economics & Political Science in theory and the history of international relations. He received a BA from the University of Michigan in international studies, history, and Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies.
