Michalis Sarris has a PhD in economics. After a short period at the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Bank of Cyprus, he worked for 30 years at the World Bank. From 2005 to 2008 and then again for a brief period at 2013 he was Cyprus's Finance Minister. Most recently he was Chairman of Astro Bank.
