Shannon Pfohman is the Executive Director of Eurocarers, the leading European network representing 70+ member organisations across 27 countries. Dedicated to building "carer-friendly societies," she combines the lived experiences of informal carers with evidence-based research to ensure that care is a choice rather than a burden. Under her leadership, Eurocarers advocates for the recognition of carers as equal partners in long-term care and champions the reconciliation of care and work, pushing for policies that protect the professional lives and financial security of those supporting loved ones.
Prior to joining Eurocarers, she held senior roles at AEIDL (European Association for Innovation in Local Development), Caritas Europa, the European Network Against Racism, and the Confederation of German Trade Unions. Her various roles have spanned research, political advocacy, project management, hospice care, among others. She holds a PhD in Political Science, attained at the Free University in Berlin.
