Sophia Kleopa Hadjikyriakou was born in Nicosia in 1973. She studied law in the United Kingdom and holds an LL.B (Hons) Bachelor of Laws and an LL.M Master of Laws.
In 1996, after completing her legal practice in Nicosia, she was admitted to the Cyprus Bar and practiced law at Kleopas & Kleopas law firm in Nicosia for 11 years. On March 1, 2007, she was appointed to the Judicial Service, where she served until January 10, 2024, as a District Judge, a Senior District Judge and President of the District Court, serving across all levels and jurisdictions of the District Court (civil cases, criminal cases, Assize Court).
From January 15, 2025, until her appointment by the President of the Republic to the office of Law Commissioner, she served as the President of the Committee for the Investigation of Professional Incompatibility. During the period 2019–2023, she was a trainer for the School for Judicial Training, while in 2022–2023, she was appointed by the Supreme Court as the Cyprus Focal Point for the United Nations Global Judicial Integrity Network.
She is a Certified Tutor of the HELP Program (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) of the Council of Europe and has conducted human rights training for judges, prosecutors, and lawyers. She is married to Savvas Hadjikyriakos and has two adult children.
